DDT Super Expo Recap
Every year, the SpecTex Expo reminds us why we love this industry. It’s a chance to share knowledge, celebrate the people who have shaped our trade, and look ahead at what’s to come. This year, the Super Expo was no different, and the DDT team came away proud and grateful.
A particular highlight for us was watching our Factory Manager, Jamie Squires, deliver his welding workshop to the industry. Jamie walked attendees through how to use, set up, and maintain a wedge welder, covering the range of materials DDT works with daily: HDPE, solar weave, PVC, and shade cloth.
The workshop was hands-on, practical, and exactly the kind of knowledge-sharing that strengthens our industry from the ground up. In Jamie's own words: "What I enjoyed most was watching people who have never used a wedge welder before come away with great results."
That sentiment says it all. Seeing newcomers leave with real, applicable skills is precisely why events like this matter, and it reflects the kind of culture we are proud to build at DDT. Investing in people and growing the next generation of skilled tradespeople has always been central to how we operate.

The expo also brought some wonderful moments of recognition for individuals who have given so much to our industry.
Congratulations to Jason Kemp from LJ Covers on his election as the new president. We look forward to seeing the association grow under his leadership.
A special mention also goes to Ron Gottlieb and Greg Penman, who were both awarded life memberships. Over 30 years of dedication, contribution, and expertise is no small thing, and this recognition is thoroughly deserved. On behalf of the entire DDT team, congratulations to both.
We also welcome two newly announced councillors: Martin Peterson and Dwayne Rickard. We look forward to your contributions over the next three years.
The SpecTex Super Expo continues to be one of the highlights of our calendar, and 2026 was another year that reminded us of the strength and generosity of this community. Thank you to the organisers, the presenters, and everyone who attended and made it such a worthwhile event.
We will see you next year!
