How DDT and Container Domes Australia Built the Ultimate Manufacturing Space
At Darling Downs Tarpaulins (DDT), we’ve been helping our clients protect their assets since 1983. But as our own production scale grew to become one of the largest in Australia, we found ourselves needing a storage and manufacturing solution that could match our ambition.
That’s where our collaboration with Container Domes Australia (CDA) comes in.
When it came time to fit out our new state-of-the-art facility in Toowoomba, we didn't just need "extra space." We needed a rugged, flexible, and high-performance environment that could handle the demands of industrial-scale textile fabrication.
Paul Whitla, Container Domes Australia
“Darling Downs Tarpaulins know their stuff when it comes to anything tarps and covers. It was great to see our container domes adding value to their well-designed new facility.”
The Challenge:
Space Without Compromise
As any builder or large-scale farmer knows, traditional sheds can be time-consuming to build and often lack the modular flexibility required for a growing business. We needed a solution that offered:
Immense Scale: To house our massive rolls of high-performance fabric.
Workflow Flexibility: The ability to move large projects in and out of the workshop without restriction.
Rugged Durability: Protection against the harsh Darling Downs sun and unpredictable weather.
The Solution:
21m x 12m Domes
Working closely with the CDA team, we installed two 21m x 12m outside-mounted domes. These aren't just covers; they are engineered structures designed for industrial longevity.
Outside Mounted: Providing maximum internal clearance and storage volume.
Full End Walls: Ensuring 100% weather protection for our materials and equipment.
Freestanding Front Opening: A custom design feature that allows us to move large projects—like grain bunker covers and massive truck tarps—seamlessly through the facility.
Michael Ryan, Darling Downs Tarpaulins
“Fantastic product and great people to work with.”
As a company that prides itself on "Innovation You Can Trust," we are selective about who we partner with. The CDA team shared our commitment to quality, delivering a comprehensive full-service installation that allowed us to get back to what we do best: fabrication.
Why Modular is the Future
For our clients in the agriculture and construction sectors, this project is a perfect case study in modular efficiency. Whether you are prepping for harvest or setting up a new on-site workshop, the combination of CDA’s rugged frames and DDT’s high-performance textiles offers a future-proof alternative to traditional builds.
Sustainability starts with longevity, and by investing in high-spec engineering and UV-stabilised textiles, we’ve created a workspace that will serve the Toowoomba community for decades to come.
